Our Curriculum
The curriculum for Guadalupe Regional Middle School is structured to adhere to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and Next Generation Science standards, ensuring comprehensive educational coverage. Each grade level and content area follows Curriculum Standards from the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville and the school’s Scope & Sequence, provides a clear roadmap for educators and students. This curriculum is further enhanced by the individual adoption of state-approved textbooks, both digital and hard copy, which have been recently updated across all content areas to maintain relevance and effectiveness. Additionally, the integration of supplemental software such as IXL, BrainPop, and Britannica enriches the learning experience, offering diverse resources to support and extend students' knowledge and skills.
To further enhance the educational experience, our institution has embraced a Tech-Enriched Learning Environment. Every classroom is equipped with laptops, iPads, keyboards, and headsets for students, ensuring they have access to the necessary tools for modern learning. The technology lab has been upgraded with new desktop computers, providing robust platforms for various educational applications. For creative projects, Adobe Photoshop software, cameras, and microphones are available, allowing students to produce high-quality presentations. Additionally, teachers have been equipped with new laptops, desktops, web cameras, voice amplifiers, and interactive panels, all of which facilitate dynamic and interactive teaching methods. These technological advancements ensure that both students and teachers are well-prepared for a digital future, fostering an engaging and effective learning environment.
Faith Formation
At Guadalupe Regional Middle School, faith formation is a cornerstone of our educational mission, intricately woven into the fabric of daily life. We provide dailiy prayer, prayer to begin each class, a daily religion class, and weekly Mass. Our dedicated religion teachers guide students through sacramental preparations, including First Holy Communion, in close collaboration with Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and others. Celebrations such as Mother's Day Mass and special Founders' Masses foster a deep sense of community and spiritual growth. Our annual retreats provide transformative experiences that encourage personal reflection, community building, and a strengthened relationship with God. Through these comprehensive faith formation efforts, we aim to nurture students' spiritual development, ensuring they are well-prepared for their lifelong journey of faith.
Extended Day
At Guadalupe Regional Middle School, our educational model extends beyond traditional hours, incorporating an extended school day designed to keep students engaged longer and expose them to diverse interests. This approach includes a mandatory Activity Period where students participate in various enriching activities, like art, sports, creative writing, and more, fostering both academic and personal growth. As part of our extended day program, students participate in House System activities that include spiritual, academic, and social events, promoting holistic development and school spirit. Additionally, we offer a free, optional after-school tutorial program, providing students with extra academic support and the opportunity to excel in their studies. This comprehensive model ensures that our students not only receive quality education but also develop a wide range of skills and interests in a supportive environment.
Extended Year
Guadalupe Regional Middle School's educational model features an Extended Year program designed to combat summer learning loss and provide enriching experiences for students. This includes the Summer Scholars Academy, where students engage in academic activities to reinforce their learning, coupled with fun activities and exciting field trips. Additionally, each year, 10 students are awarded full scholarships to attend Camp Marist in New Hampshire for two weeks. This traditional summer camp experience offers them the opportunity to participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering personal growth and creating lifelong memories. It is truly a life-changing experience.
